Lake Maggiore (20-50 minutes)
Sesto Calende and Arona are the gateways to the lake: lakeside promenades, an aperitivo at sunset, and boats to the Borromean Islands from Stresa (50 minutes). By car it's the easiest day trip; in summer, set off early.
Volandia, the flight museum (10 minutes)
Next to Terminal 1, in the former Caproni workshops: historic aircraft, simulators, a planetarium and plenty of space for children. Ideal if you have 3 hours and an afternoon flight.
Milan (40-50 minutes by car, about 40 by train)
The Duomo, the Galleria, Brera and the Navigli can all be done in a day. Take the train from Casorate Sempione station to avoid traffic and parking, then come back to sleep 10 minutes from the airport.
Parco del Ticino and the surroundings
- Walks and bike rides along the Ticino, a few minutes from the house.
- Castello Visconti di San Vito in Somma Lombardo.
- Varese and the Sacro Monte (30 minutes), a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After check-out you can leave your suitcases for free in the inner courtyard, in the designated area, and collect them before heading to the airport.
